Synopsis

What do you get when you mix a pissed off omega wolf in heat with a wicked, possessive alpha?

Trouble—in the form of Phoenix Adair.

The brutal alpha of our rival Shadow Pack has a reputation for serving up malice and pain. Where he comes from, wolves roam free and lawless.

A treaty forged over a hundred years ago is the only thing standing between all-out war between our packs.

We’re Willow Creek wolves–refined, traditional, obedient, and I play the part of a good, little fiancée to Zade Crawford–my betrothed, and the alpha’s son. My future has been mapped out, which means I know who I am and what my purpose is.

Until I lock eyes with Phoenix at the treaty renewal, and the unthinkable happens.

Phoenix fucking Adair is my moon-fated mate.

Before I can process this life-altering news, the asshole publicly rejects me, and I find out everyone has been lying to me my entire life. That’s when I know it’s time to make some changes.

Leaving Willow Creek is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I refuse to remain in a place that feels so wrong.

Except, I know nothing about what it means to be a shifter, nor how to survive without the creature comforts I’ve known all my life.

When I cross into forbidden land, danger finds me.

And then I find the one wolf I fear the most.

Phoenix fucking Adair.

Review

This was the first paranormal book by Amanda Richardson that I've read and I have to say....I really enjoyed it! Her take on omegaverse was really interesting. It's the first time I've seen where their wolf is a seperate entity that lives within them so there is the possibility of say a person being an alpha but their wolf is something different.

Adrienne is a Willow Creek wolf and she is betrothed to her best friend, and future alpha, Zade. She loves him but she isn't in love with him but she comes to accept that finding her fated mate is too rare so she can live with marrying her best friend.

The Shadow Pack has a reputation of being brutal and savage. While Willow Creek, I imagine as being stuck in the 1950s because of how they run things and how they think of women. These two packs have a peace treaty and when Adrienne travels with Zade to meet at the treaty renewal she meets Phoenix the leader of the Shadow Pack. They instantly realize that they are fated mates.

I really loved Phoenix in this story. He's very protective and much more mature that Adrienne so he really always does what he thinks is best for her.

"You'll always stand by my side, undestood? Never behind me, never ranked by status. You may be an omega, but we cherish your kind here. Worship them."

I found it kind of strange how Zade went from being Adrienne's best friend to being a complete ass hat just because he was becoming the alpha, he was almost unhinged towards the end. I really look forward to seeing how it all plays out in the next book!

Notable Highlights

And I was not prepared for the way her scent, the look on her face, the smell of her slick, would turn me into a brutal monster. Her wolf wants to play? Fine. I can't say I didn't warn her.

"This won't be gentle lovemaking," he says, his voice low. I groan, annoyed at him for not making a move just yet. "Why do you keep warning me and cautioning me when you could be on top of me..."

"I've got news for you, Midnight. Now that I've had a taste of you, I'm never letting you go."
